johnmartin@jfmops.com Almost fifteen years ago, as a Board Member, I joined a great non-profit organization called Boundless Readers, a Chicago-based organization focused on teaching the love of reading to Chicago Public School (CPS) students. I later became the Chairperson and then managed the merger with another great organization Working in the Schools (WITS), where I am an Executive Committee Board Member. This merger has been one of the most successful non-profit mergers in Chicago and has been used in a case study for helping other non-profit organizations contemplate a merger. I have sat on panels to explain the process that we went through.
I consulted with a national, education-focused non-profit organization. I worked with the Executive Director and senior team to perform a financial forensic analysis. Once completed, I developed an organizational, system, and process plan to help the organization deliver its services through improved financial management and visibility.
I have also volunteered to work with two other educationally-focused non-profit organizations.
In all these organizations, I have leveraged my operational and financial experience to help these organizations achieve their missions and expand their impact.
